Direct from BokerUSA.com "By introducing this fascinating model, we are opening up a new chapter in the company's over 100 year old history of high-quality Boker razors. For the first time, we applied a stainless Damascus steel that has been manufactured by powder-metallurgical processing for the production of a razor blade. Using a technically complex and highly sophisticated procedure, 180 layers of Damascus steel are manufactured in a special sintering process in order to obtain a perfect basic material for the refined hand grinding of the blades. The traditional hollow ground beautifully emphasizes the attractive grain of the natural Damascus pattern. The elegantly dark shimmering Damascus blade, which was manufactured with state-of-the-art technology, harmonizes in an outstanding manner with the original Boker razor handle scales from the 1930's. These are made of a special synthetic material showing an ivory structure. They provide an extremely high level of flexibility and water resistance. Finally, the handle scale has been skillfully adorned by the traditional Boker tree-brand. A perfect craftsmanship, that is rarely to be found nowadays. This new Boker Damascus razor model is entirely manufactured by hand in 150 production steps in the Boker Knife Manufactory in Solingen. It is strictly limited to 500 pieces worldwide."

Restoration: 

This razor came to us from a private collection and is lightly used and in excellent condition. This razor underwent our complete Straight Razor Restoration Service. It was first polished, removing any past oxidization revealing new metal and a spectacular mirror shine. Next, the scales were cleaned and polished.

"Honing starts out on a Chosera 1000 Wet stone were I begin to set the bevel. Once the bevel outline is finished I move onto the Chosera 3000 where the bevel is cleaned up and refined. Next its on to the polishing stage which starts out on the Aishyama 6000 and moves to the naniwa 12000. After the 12k, a perfectly good shave can occur. But we like to take it one step further and finish with a high polish on the Suehiro Gokumyo 20000." Eric, Razor Miester. After honing, the blade is stropped, oiled, and arrives shave ready!
